At The Railway Shed, I am passionate about model trains, especially Hornby Dublo, Hornby Railways and Ace Trains, and I strive to offer a diverse collection that caters for every enthusiast. With a commitment to quality and authenticity, I try to  bring the joy of model train collecting to enthusiasts of all ages.

I started collecting Hornby Dublo when I was about 20 years old, and have been hooked ever since. But my interest in model trains started much earlier when my father bought me a Triang Princess Elizabeth loco when I was a very young lad. I was lucky in my 20s to have a great little shop in Bedford on my doorstep called Bryan Scale Models. Chris, the owner, would buy in and trade model railway items and knowing I was interested in Hornby Dublo he would let me know as soon as he had something he thought that I may have an interest in. My collection grew and grew, but I never had anywhere to run the locos until I retired a few year back and we moved to Warwickshire and set aside a "train room". But now I have too much in my collection so am "thinning" it down. 

About 15 years ago I was introduced to 0-Gauge by my father-in-law who had acquired a huge collection of Ace and Bassett-Lowke items as well as an extensive 00 Gauge collection - and then that spurred me on to have a much greater interest in large gauges than the 00 that I had grown up with. Unfortunately he passed away in Spring 2025 so most of his collection of both gauges is listed  now on this website. 

NB: I must stress at this point that I am NOT a Dealer. I dont buy in and sell model railway items to make a profit. I purely sell items I want to move on from my own collection and those inherited from my late father-in-law! This website is set up purely for that purpose. This recently inherited collection of model railway items is in Guage 0 and Gauge 00 and most of these items are mint/box having never been run. They are also offered for sale to collectors and there are many rare items included from Ace, Hornby and Wrenn.

I have a large 3-Rail layout to test my items offered for sale before listing them on the website. However 2-Rail testing is only done on a small test stretch of track. You can see a photograph of my 3-Rail layout on the homepage.

Ialso try to describe the condition of the items to the best of my ability and in an honest assessment. This is hard as one persons view of an "Excellent Condition" could vary from another persons idea. However in collecting my items over a period of 50 years I have endeavoured to only collect items that are Very Good to Mint condition, and erring towards the latter.
